A crematory on our own grounds
Evergreen has operated an on-site crematory since the 1970s — one of the first cemeteries in the region to offer burial and cremation on the same grounds. Many cremation providers subcontract the cremation itself to a third-party facility; at Evergreen, every cremation is performed by our own staff, on our own grounds, under New Jersey state regulations.
Direct cremation
Direct cremation is the simplest option: cremation without a formal ceremony beforehand, starting at $350. The cremated remains are then placed at the cemetery or returned to the family, and many families hold a memorial gathering later, on their own schedule.
Cremation with a memorial service
Families who wish to gather may hold a graveside or committal service on our grounds before or after the cremation. Our staff will help with logistics, including seating, timing, and coordination with clergy.
A permanent place to visit
Cremation does not have to mean giving up a place to return to. Cremated remains may be:
- Placed in a columbarium niche, starting at $2,000 — an above-ground niche in our columbarium with a permanent record and inscription
- Buried in a designated urn space, starting at $650
- Interred in an existing family grave
- Returned to the family in a sealed container

New Jersey requires a licensed funeral director to file the death certificate and obtain the cremation authorization. If you already have a funeral home involved, we will coordinate directly with them. If you do not, contact us first — we work with all licensed funeral directors in the region, can provide a referral, and will handle everything on the cemetery and crematory side ourselves.
